Tip 1 – Revisit Your Content • How many websites have the exact same content as you? • Does your website explain what you do and who you help? • Is your web copy written for the reader? • Are you adding new content every week?
Tip 2 – Basic On Page SEO • Make sure you have: • Unique Title and Descriptions on each page • Make sure you have ALT tags covered • Remember the CONTENT thing? • Avoid: • Keyword Stuffing • Duplicate content • Irrelevant content • Hidden text or links
Tip 3 – Don’t forget about Social • Social Media is crucial • Publish to 2 or 3 of your favourite social sites daily • Visit industry blogs and websites and leave valuable comments every day • Setup automatic feeds of your blogs to your Linkedin company page,Facebook page and twitter accounts. • But don’t forget about the human factor.
Tip 4 – Consider Your Links • Tip 4 and 5 go together • Links from non-relative sites can punish you. • Inbound links still matter but!! • Links need to be from relevant sites • Avoid link sharing sites or activities • Don’t use computer programs to submit links or other SEO activities
Tip 5 – External Sites • How is your Microsoft Pinpoint profile? • Are you a guest writer for your local newspaper or IT Professional group? • Create a media list and send everything you do to your industry or local media • What industry blogs or websites can you participate in on a regular basis • Setup your site on LOCAL sites such as GOOGLE Places, Yelp and others
Don’t believe me…believe Matt Cutts • Create a blog and consistently build up your site into a wealth of valuable content. • Work with a PR firm or read a book and start writing legitimate press releases on a regular basis and post them on your site. • Visit blogs within your industry and leave valuable feedback in their comments section. • Link out to other valuable resources within your industry that would benefit your visitors. • Share everything you are creating on 2 or 3 of your favorite social media sites of choice. • Position yourself as an expert.
