Gilead COMPASS Initiative®: Tackling the HIV/AIDS Epidemic in Southern USA Due to the slow process of the research and development of the right medicines and treatments, several diseases are still prevailing in our society. One of these diseases that has made a huge impact and has affected families is HIV/AIDS, that has been declared as an epidemic by the World Health Organization. The disease has a huge social impact on the affected families making their life difficult. In times like these, large-scale biopharmaceutical conglomerates must come together to start an initiative that works towards providing funding to non-profits to spread awareness and treatments to such families. Following the same vision is the Gilead COMPASS Initiative® started by Gilead Sciences Inc. to combat the existing Gilead HIV stigma for several African-American families in the Southern USA. Gilead COMPASS Initiative® is actively working in the Southern USA in collaboration with several non-profit charitable organizations that work towards fighting the social effects of the diseases on the affected families.
