    2. 2 HEU Blend Down Project Overview SRS HEU will be dissolved, purified, and blended with natural uranium to produce Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) solution. The LEU solution will be transported to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in NRC certified containers for manufacture into commercial reactor fuel. Challenges of the project included the ability to meet product purity specifications, production throughput needs, cost containment of the project, and meeting schedule needs. The process is scheduled for 60 months; the first blend batch has been mixed and is awaiting the readiness of TVA facilities to receive the solution.
