  2. Gulf • A large part of the ocean that extends into land

  3. Ocean • A large body of water

  4. Coral Reef • An ocean ridge made up of skeletal remains of tiny sea animals

  5. Peninsula • An area of land that sticks out into a lake or ocean

  6. Bay • Part of a large body of water that is smaller than a gulf

  7. Isthmus • A narrow piece of land connecting two larger land areas

  8. Delta • An area where a river deposits soil into the ocean

  9. Island • An area of land surrounded entirely by water

  10. Strait • A narrow body of water connecting two larger bodies of water

  11. Sinkhole • A circular depression formed when the roof of a cave collapses

  12. River • A natural flow of water that runs through the land

  13. Wetlands • An area of land covered by shallow water

  14. Forest • An area of densely wooded land

  15. Lake • An inland body of water

  16. Coast • An area of land near the ocean

  17. Volcano • An opening in the Earth’s crust where lava, ash, and gases erupt

  18. Canyon • A deep, narrow valley with steep walls

  19. Plain • A nearly flat area of land

  20. Hill • A rounded, elevated area of land smaller than a mountain

  21. Dune • A hill of sand shaped by wind

  22. Desert • An extremely dry area with little water and few plants

  23. Oasis • An area in the desert with a water source

  24. Plateau • A large, flat, elevated area of land

  25. Glacier • A large area of slow-moving ice

  26. Valley • An area of low land between hills or mountains

  27. Mountain • An area of rugged land that generally rises higher than 2,000 feet
