What is grammar? • Punctuation, e.g. full stops, capital letters. • Correct use of words and sentence structure. • Spellings.
Which of these is wrong and why? • I must of forgotten it. • He must have gone into town. • She should’ve taken her umbrella.
What is wrong and why? • We were waiting for a taxi. • He was running down the street. • We was in the queue for ages.
Parts of speech: These are: • Your mouth, tongue and lungs • Types of words such as noun, verb, adjective, etc
Literally: • What does literally mean? • Can you put it in a sentence so that it is grammatically correct?
Joining sentences • Use commas to join sentences. • Use “and” to join sentences. • Use an appropriate conjunction.
Homophones • Their is a small town far away. • There is a small town far away. • They’re is a small town far away.
You and who? • John and I are going to Amsterdam. • John and me are going to Amsterdam. • Me and John are going to Amsterdam.
