If it’s a proverb • Step 1 • Understand the main words of the topic/proverb • Step 2 • Think in your own words/translate • Step 3 • Think if any story/anecdote/fable/prable/legend/ or example is attached with it • Step 4 • Look for similar attributes/ ideas with it • Step 5 • Sum up the paragraph
If it is not a proverb • Try to understand the “gist” • Comparison, pros & cons, explanation etc • Decide your take • Write brief introduction plus small thesis statement • Include examples in favour of your arguments
Cont… • Grass the idea, significance or implication • Enlist important points in logical order • Expand by adding details, illustrations, examples etc • Avoid beginning by uninteresting phases like the meaning of the saying, these line teaches , truth of the statement etc • Write simple and to the point • Revise and Edit
Be careful • Expend the idea not the phrase • Observe limits of words • Write in direct form • Its better to write in active voice • Write in 3rd person singular. • Avoid ‘I’ ,its egoistic ! • Let alone “You”, its offensive ! • Conclude, precisely !
