What is Comic Sans? • Comic Sans is an informal font that looks like comic book lettering. • It conveys a casual meaning. • The font is not meant for formal documents. • The font was named Comic Sans because it was inspired by comic book writing. Sans is short for sans-serif, which is a font without strokes at the end of letters. • Times New Roman is a font with strokes or serifs • Comic Sans is a font without serifs.
The Creation of Comic Sans • Comic Sans was accidentally created by Vincent Connare in 1994 at Microsoft Corp. • While working on a project, Connare designed his new font Comic Sans by using comic books as an inspiration. • A product manager liked it and decided to use it as a standard font in Microsoft Windows. • The font’s popularity grew as more people bought computers.
The Use of Comic Sans • As its popularity has grown, Comic Sans has been used as a font for both formal and casual documents. • It has been used in newspapers, signs, posters, emails, and various other modes of communication.
