Polymer Envoys • Initial Program: Case/CMSD • Juniors and seniors from CMSD • 6-8 Sophomores selected each year by a CLiPS/CMSD team • Member of a CLiPS Layered Research Team with a faculty advisor • Mentors to middle school students • Create “Polymer Plus” demonstration based on research experience • Serve as role models and advertisements for careers in science and engineering, and for the CLiPS programs • Translation to UTA/AISD (W07), Fisk/Nashville Schools (F08), RIT/Rochester (F08) Polymer Envoys High School Student Research Experience
Follow-Through • Recruitment into CLiPS undergraduate programs, including Fisk/Case 3/2 program • CLiPS facilitation in supporting college application process, matching students with scholarships • Develop new scholarship opportunities • CLiPS faculty serve as academic advisors once in college • CLiPS maintains contact with students beyond high school determine long-term impact of program Polymer Envoys High School Student Research Experience
