What is School-Wide Positive Behavior Support? • School-wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS) is a proactive approach based on a three-tiered model (universal, secondary, and individualized) of prevention and intervention aimed at creating safe and effective schools. Emphasis is placed on teaching and reinforcing important social skills and data-based problem-solving to address existing behavior concerns. • SWPBS fosters positive school environments so that “all students” most particularly students with disabilities, can be successfully included within general education programs. • PBS Tiers of Intervention
PBS In Action At SMS Implementing Procedures, Rules and Incentives
Morning/Afternoon Procedures • Morning: 8:05am announcements made to dismiss 1st group of students (girls) • 8:10am 2nd group dismissed (boys) • 7th graders report to cafeteria, 6th & 8th report to gym. • Please have a bell ringer activity/assignment for students upon entering your classroom. • Afternoon: 3:10 announcements will be made, all students should be in their classrooms. • 3:15 dismissal will begin for all students, by grade level • Students are not allowed in the building, once departure, unless agenda is signed by teacher.
Bus & Car Rider Stations • Teachers on Duty: arrive on time 7:45am and 3:10pm. • Student Behavior-maintain order car riders should be seated on benches.

Team Work • Although PBS is a committee of 8 people, in order for it to be properly implemented we need the support of all staff members in the building. Remember to Be a Horse: Be Honest Be Orderly Be Respectful Be Safe Be Engaged Always be positive our children are looking at you!!
