v2b-They answered, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit."

2. The Holy Spirit isn’t a series. The Holy Spirit is God and He longs to have an intimate relationship with you and we should desire Him more and more all the time

3. Acts 19:1-2a While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?"

4. Eph 1:13- And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation.When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit

6. Baptism comes from the Greek word baptizo meaning to immerse, to put fully, to get completely wet. In the Bible baptism is applied three different ways

7. 1ST BAPTISM-SALVATION-The Holy Spirit baptizes us in Jesus

8. 1 Corinthians 12:13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body Galatians 3:26-27 You are all sons of God through faith in ChristJesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothedyourselves with Christ.

9. John 20:19- On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

10. 20-22- After He said this, He showed them His hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me I am sending you. And with that He breathed on them and said, Receive the Holy Spirit.

11. v49- I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

12. 1:3-5After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with[a] water, but in a few days you will be baptized with[b] the Holy Spirit.”

13. 1ST BAPTISM-SALVATION-The Holy Spirit baptizes us in Jesus 2ND BAPTISM-WATER-A disciple baptizes us in water

14. Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

15. 1ST BAPTISM-SALVATION-The Holy Spirit baptizes us in Jesus 2ND BAPTISM-WATER-A disciple baptizes us in water Water baptism doesn’t save you it declares that you are saved.

16. 3RD BAPTISM-HOLY SPIRITJesus baptizes us in the Holy Spirit All you need is the first one to go to heaven but without the other two you’re missing out.

21. Acts 2:1-When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

22. V2-4- Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

23. Acts 2:37- When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

24. v38- Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

25. V39- The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.

26. V12- But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

27. V14-15- When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit.

28. V16-17- because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

29. 3. In the Old Testament Obviously the desire was to get into the presence of God. When you came in there was 3 things you needed to do before coming before God.

30. 1. Altar where you shed the blood of the lamb. 2. Laver where you washed with water. 3. Flask where you were anointed with oil, oil of course representing the Spirit.

31. The baptism of the Holy Spirit was a normal experience in the New Testament church It’s really about a closer relationship with Holy Spirit about more of God

32. 1.Remove all barriers. 2. Request the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 11:13) If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!

33. 3. Receive Him by faith. Most everything that God has for you makes you take another step, another risk of faith

34. The difference between the first baptism and the third is like the difference between filling up a glass of water and throwing that glass in a swimming pool.
