    4. NÁSTROJE PRO INOVACI Through partnership with our customers, and focusing on innovation, we have continually reinvented the way we meet our customer’s needs. We started as a respected information publisher for the scientific community, creating the Science Citation Index that revolutionized scientific research, and Derwent World Patents Index, that changed forever the way companies worldwide search intellectual property. We were one of the first companies to offer advanced scientific information online and on the Web, giving customers easy access to critical information for their decision making. Background notes: 1961 Science Citation Index launched, Dr. Eugene Garfield revolutionized scientific research with his concept of citation indexing and searching. 1966 Dialog online information retrieval system is operational long before the commonplace use of the Internet. 1972 Dialog offers the first publicly available online research service; MDC Founded and original mainframe/time-share IP management systems PatentMaster (Patents) and MarkMaster (Trademarks) launched. First ever patent payment service introduced. 1974 Derwent launches World Patents Index providing complete coverage of patents from all technologies 1976 Derwent is one of the first organisations to go online with the first online implementation of WPI on the host SDS-ORBIT. 1989 MicroPatent is founded in response to the needs of patent professionals for electronic data in CD-ROM format. 1990 Derwent launches GENESEQ, the first database of sequences from patents 1995 IDRAC global regulatory intelligence database is launched with 15 country modules. It is a CD-ROM product and the first of its kind. 1996 Techstreet (then called CSSINFO) launches first-ever web site for searching and ordering industry codes and standards online. 1997 ISI launches Web of Science 1998 MicroPatent becomes the first company in the world to provide PCT full text electronically.   2000 Delphion is launched using IBM's existing Intellectual Property Network, enables businesses to search, analyze, buy, sell and license millions of patents across different industries; Techstreet launches first-ever searchable database of industry standards and technical books combined. 2001 ISI develops ISI Web of KnowledgeSM - the single, sophisticated platform that unites journal literature, patents, chemical compounds, and genetic sequencing, and integrates proceedings and additional print and electronic sources. Newport Horizon, a Web-based strategic intelligence system for generic and speciality pharma is released 2004 Thomson Pharma is launched 2005 Century of Science brings thousands of older, twentieth century scientific journal items available in one place for the first time. 2006 Manuscript Management Toolset - makes it possible for authors to create their manuscript in EndNote and seamlessly submit it for review using Manuscript Central. This is the first phase in the program. 2007 Thomson Innovation integrates ntellectual property, scientific literature, business data and news with analytic, collaboration and alerting tools in a robust platform. 2008 BONDplus - the largest repository of value-added bioinformatics records — a highly significant area for target-based drug discovery. 9. Unifikace názvu kategorií napríc jednotlivými databázemi Nomenklatura jednotlivých oborove specifických databází „navázána“ na terminologii „Web of Science / Journal Citation Reports“ Možnost analyzovat výsledky z více databází najednou využitím stejného schématu indexování oboru Bohatší výsledky díky využití více zdroju platformy ISI Web of Knowledge With ISI Web of Knowledge 4.0 a completely new interface will be released based on lengthy, detailed, user-centric studies. Key in this process was the identification of user-behaviors, or “personas”, for all users at all levels. This new interface has been designed to ensure that ALL personas are well-served, from undergrad, to info professional, to researcher and publishing author. WoK 4.0 delivers an interface that is straightforward, uncomplicated, yet retains all of the powerful features of the current WoK 3.0 -- and more… Along with ISI Web of Knowledge WoK 4.0 comes a "cross-content classification scheme". This provides ability to Refine a set of search results, retrieved from multiple databases, through a single indexing scheme - the one currently used within Web of Science and Journal Citation Reports. We've essentially mapped indexing terms from native databases (BIOSIS Previews, INSPEC, etc.) to these existing Web of Science/JCR categories. This goes a long way in unifying content across the platform, providing much more cohesive cross-search capabilities. With ISI Web of Knowledge 4.0 a completely new interface will be released based on lengthy, detailed, user-centric studies. 11. INDEXING BACKBONE – PRÍKLAD: IMUNITNÍ SYSTÉM For example, a researcher searching for articles on polyphenols in the Web of Knowledge and how they affect the immune system can cross search multiple databases while taking advantage of the unique indexing in each. In this search the unique indexing terms in BIOSIS Previews, CAB Abstracts, and MEDLINE are mapped to a Web of Knowledge subject category. 15. ISI Proceedings a BIOSIS Previews jako citacní databáze

    16. ISI PROCEEDINGS A BIOSIS PREVIEWS JAKO CITACNÍ DATABÁZE V posledních letech se zvedla vlna zájmu o vetší množství nezávislých informací s citacní informací ISI Proceedings: Multidisciplinární databáze Materiály z konferencí, sympozií, semináru, workshopu apod. V prubehu roku 2009 budou citace pridány i do BIOSIS Previews – na ISI Web of Knowledge

    17. PROCEEDINGS – V CR DOSTUPNÉ OD 15.11.2008!

    18. After the upgrade, the Proceedings content has been fully integrated. Links to Cited References will work correctly making a more comprehensive resource. Related Records will be generated on all content, improving the power of the search capability (Note: this doesn’t really make any difference to WoS, but a vast improvement on the ISI Proceedings Related Record functionality) Times Cited will include links to both citing articles and citing proceedings. This is a major change. Remember that this feature was not available for the previous version of ISI Proceedings at all, so is a major enhancement. This will results in some WoS records experiencing a sudden jump in citation counts as the ISI Proceedings content is added. Customers who do not subscribe to Proceedings content will see the jump in the Times Cited count, but will not be able to access all of the citing works. 26. EndNote Web

    28. After identifying quality search results, it is important to be able to maximize their use. Users of all levels – researchers, publishing authors, and students – must have these options: The ability to Save results to an easily accessible, searchable archive or “knowledge-base” An easy way to share knowledge amongst colleagues, to facilitate collaboration. Authoring tools that relieve the frustration of retyping and manually formatting references for papers and reports, journal manuscripts, books, grants, curricula vitae, reading lists and more.

    31. Though EndNote Web is indeed a component of ISI Web of Knowledge, working seamlessly with platform resources, it can be accessed directly – one need not be within the ISI Web of Knowledge platform to open and utilize information saved within EndNote Web. The button placed within an IE Explorer (for Windows) or FireFox toolbar provides one-click access. The EndNote Web MS Word toolbar provides fantastic support of the paper-writing process – more on this later in the presentation. 37. IMPORTANT NOTE when discussing the Online Search -- Connections to online databases through EndNote Web originate from the EndNote Web server rather than the users’ library server, so IP authentication or proxy authentication will not take place. What this means is that one will not be able to search databases using IP authentication (except for ISI Web of Knowledge). This needs to be made clear so as not to mislead potential users.IMPORTANT NOTE when discussing the Online Search -- Connections to online databases through EndNote Web originate from the EndNote Web server rather than the users’ library server, so IP authentication or proxy authentication will not take place.
