  4. trans- • in Astronomy or Science... • A prefix denoting something beyondthe sun or a given planet.

  5. trans-in Chemistry… • A prefixdenoting a geometric isomer having a pair of identical atoms on the opposite sides of two atoms linked by a double bond. vs. transisomer: cisisomer: H Cl H H C = C Cl Cl Cl H • The two chlorine atoms are locked on opposite sides of the double bond • (trans- Latin; meaning "across" • i.e. transatlantic) • The two chlorine atoms are locked on the same side of the double bond. • (cis- Latin; meaning "on this side")

  11. Government -isms: • Absolutism-the theory and exercise of complete and unrestricted power in government. • Anarchism-a political theory advocating the elimination of governments and governmental restraint and the substitution of voluntary cooperation among individuals.

  12. Transcendental + -ism =Independently…1.) Construct a general definition of transcendentalism. 2.) Write this definition on the bottom of your “Morphology Chart”
