  2. ANNIES Mission To empower farm women to be better business partners through networks and by managing and organizing critical information.

Annie’s National Network Initiative for Educational Success (ANNIES) • National Leadership Team • Develops methodologies • Trains educators • Maintains program integrity • Network of Educators • Shares with and learns from other educators • Adapts, contributes and improves local, state, and national programs for women

  4. Annie’s Project Local Classes • Local program planning, speakers and learners • Safe, comfortable environment • Shared learning and mentoring • Opportunities to influence behavior changes • Guided intelligence

  5. Core Benefit Proposition • Local educators, including many women • Half the course time is discussion-based • Un-biased, researched based information • Teach all five areas of risk • Financial • Human • Legal • Marketing • Production

  8. Target Expansion in the Northeast • Annie’s Project is currently delivered in • DE, MD and PA • Our goal is to reach these new states • CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RD, VT, WV

Methods for Bringing in New States • Identify additional interested educators • Organize 3 to 4 stakeholder meeting sites in the Northeast • Conduct meetings with educators, local women in agriculture, and local practioners • Evaluate needs, consider curricula • Present educator training meetings • RMA provides funds to cover some costs • Training will include educators from multiple states

  10. ANNIES Will Help with First Class • Assist NE states with development of their first Annie’s Project class • Adapt the classes to meet the identified needs of local farm women

  11. Funding Opportunities for Classes • RMA Small Sessions Grants • http://www.rma.usda.gov/aboutrma/agreements • Due April 27, 2010 • NE RME Center Grants • Pre-proposals typically due early winter • Local sponsors such as • FSA, Farm Credit Bank, Nationwide Insurance
