Challenges in prevention and care • General • Trauma care is under funded • Competing demand is a threat • infectious diseases(AIDS, Malaria, TB) • Childhood diseases(Preventable) • Maternal conditions (Obstetric care) • Expensive • Awareness low among stake holders • Policy Makers • Public • Health professionals

  7. Challenges • Specific • Traffic • Public Education & Persuasion • Public, Policy makers, Law enforcers • Advocacy • Legal regulation of behavior • Passengers, Pedestrians, cyclists,driver • Road. • Vehicle / cycles - Road worthiness • Misuse

  8. Challenges • Falls • Mostly from fruit trees • Affects mainly children • Reach epidemic proportion in may • Adults / Parents improper guide to the children • Civil Insurrection • Lack of Peaceful resolution of disagreement • Cycle of violence afflicting the country

Challenges in care • Trauma care system not in place • pre hospital care, in hospital care ,transfer system, rehabilitation. • Communication- Poor • Accessibility to functional health facility, Poor • Facility, equipment and Materials Lacking • Human resource • inadequate • needs training / refresher courses

  10. Way Forward • Public Awareness and education • Targeting preventable cause of injuries • Environment Modification • Law and Policy aimed at preventing injuries • Trauma care system should be put in place • Training for various stake holders • Operational research
