Actual status • 22 Operational and development servers • Combination of 6 different HW • 8 Hot spare servers • Combination of 4 different HW • 9 Servers or spare parts for supporting the actual base • Combination of 4 different HW The global cost for the HP hardware maintenance contract in 2007 is 75K CHF The cost of a new Linux Proliant is 6K CHF with 3 years of warranty hpux eradication - TC 13/09/2007

Philosophy of eradication As the support of these old machine is increasingly costly and the risk of using them for operation is increasing with time, we propose the following : To stop the HP support contract for these machines on 31.Dec.2007, mainly driven by the announcement of HP of the termination support on D Class servers To stop the AB/CO support for these machines on 31.Dec.2008, based on the number of spare available and the number of breakdown since 3 years And therefore to definitively switch off the remaining ones on 1.Jan.2009 hpux eradication - TC 13/09/2007
