Equinox in a Sentence • Earth is naturally tilted at an angle, but during an equinox, the Earth’s axis is vertical. • Equinox generally happens during the spring and fall; therefore, there are spring and fall festivals during an equinox.
Mnemonic Device • Equinox has two root words, “equi” and “nox”. • Equi means equal. • Nox means night in Medieval Latin. It is also similar to the “noct” in nocturnal which is used to describe any animal that is active at night and sleep during the day.
