What is Season? • Season happens in parts of a year, that changes the temperature totally in a certain location. There are mainly 4 seasons, Summer, Winter, Springand Autumn.
Why did it happen • Seasons happen because the Earth revolution around the sun, the revolution is divided into four parts which means the four seasons, Summer, Winter, Spring and Autumn. Each part of the revolution get its sunlight in different parts of Earth. The season keeps changing each part of the revolution because of the Earth facing to the sun.
How did it happen? • The Earth revolves the sun • Earth is given sunlight in certain location when the Earth is revolving in one part of its revolution. • A certain location gets its season Demonstration: Australia is in the southern hemisphere. Earth is now in the position when the southern hemisphere is getting its sunlight. So the southern hemisphere is having Summer season.
Equinox • What is it? Equinox is natural phenomenon that happens twice a year. Equinox happen when the Earth is being in a average position from the sun. It is the first day of Spring and Autumn. Equinox has its own meaning which is equi: equal – nox: night • Why did it happen? Because the Earth equator is on the the same position as Sun’s center. So during Equinox, the earth is getting equal day and night. • How did it happen? • The Earth is revolving the sun just as before Spring or Autumn • Then when the Earth’s equator is in the same plane as the the center of the sun. • The Earth gets equal day and night
Solstice • What is it? Solstice is natural phenomenon that happens twice a year. It happen when Earth position is sometimes far or near from the sun. It is the first day of Winter and Summer. Solstice has it meaning which sun stand still because sun is being in the average position during solstice. • Why did it happen? Because of the Earth is tilted, nothern or southern hemisphere is getting special sunlight during Solstices that can affect the amount of sunlight in a day. • How did it happen? • The Earth is revolving the sun just as before Summer or Winter • Then Sun is facing either the Northern or Southern Hemisphere • The Sun is viewed in the highest or lowest altitude if seen from Earth
Interesting fact • Equinox and solstices averagely occurs on 20th, 21st,22nd and 23rd • Because there are 4 seasons happens in one year.12 months divide by 4, the answer is 3. So, 1 season last for 3 months. In each month equinox and solstices happen • Equinox don’t occur the same day each year • The equator never experience equinox and solstice • The season of nothernand southern hemisphere is always opposite. • Equinox and Solstices is a astronomical events • Equinox marks the first day of Spring and Autumn • Solstice marks the first day of Summer and Winter.
