Trials for measurement of SEY of Cu on old AES system with +50V,-20V sample bias) : comparison with existing CERN data at 500eV and 700eV, (dose below 10-6 Clb/mm2) Hil= data from H.Hilleret The aim is to get relative ranking of samples, not the precise SEY values
Ranking of coatings: measurements by AES system at CERN and true SEY in Madrid Ma=data from Madrid group
Continuous beam, charging, SEY=1.22 Pulsed beam, no charging SEY=1.57
1) Problems with the CN : • Resistance measured with 4 points method 5MOHm□ • Estimated contact resistance of the pins as high as GOHm • Bad adhesion observed on StSt • 2) Ranking of SEY: • TiN > CN (present trial) > C • C coating is the best candidate: • No problems of charging • No problems of adhesion observed so far • Coating is compact (SEM images), probably amorphous carbon • SEY = 1.36 after 10 days in air, without conditioning
Status of lab measurement system • e-gun presently under commissioning (programming routines) • Vacuum chamber installed, but not connected to XPS yet • Collector system to be manufactured
