  5. S1 - Comments • PT Excusal Forms • I need to see them before I mark someone as excused. Otherwise, that cadet is marked as unexcused. • Excusal slips cannot be given after an event. Must be given prior to the event or else that Cadet is “unexcused” (except for emergencies or other unusual circumstances). • If a Cadet is sick and cannot complete an event, they still must come to the event, will be allowed to leave or sit out, and will be marked as “present.” They cannot skip the event and try to get/give an excusal later.

  16. LAB FF LAB 100/200Weapons Familiarization and Rope Climbing Mission: JMU Duke Battalion conducts weapons familiarization on 28/29NOV2012 at National Guard Armory in order to educate cadets on how to disassemble and assemble weapons, along with climbing a rope. Concept of the Operation This operation will be conducted in four phases. Phase I: Phase begins with the issuance of OPORD at Company meetings on 26NOV2012. The CONOP will be briefed at the staff call and training meeting. Phase ends with final coordination. Phase II: Phase begins with first formation outside of National Guard Armory. All cadets will move into the NGA and split up into five classes, which will be conducted by MS4 instructors cSnyder and cPlumley. There will be three rotations/groups that have 30 minutes each: Group 1:Rope Climbing and Eyesight/Breathing (these classes swap after 15 minutes)Group 2: The 240B and SAW is the second group (these classes swap after 15 minutes) Group 3: M4 (This class doesn't change/move for 30 minutes) Phase III: Phase begins with a relay race between 1PLT and 2PLT. The relay race consists of disassembling and reassembling an M4 correctly then climbing up and down a rope. Phase ends after a 20 minute iteration or if there is a winning PLT before the time hack. Phase IV: Begins with a police call of the NGA and ends with final formation. MSIVs will conduct an AAR. Classes complete. 1535/1605: Relay race 1555/1625: Formation, AAR, and dismissal.   18. TAC AAR (MS3’s Teach) Issue: Planning Discussion: MS3’s were assigned as instructors for the each lab and were instructed to plan accordingly. Planning for the first week of this lab was not to standard and impacted the training considerably. Recommendation: Planning for these labs should start more than 3 weeks prior. MS4 overseers periodically check the MS3 leadership and ensure training of the trainers. Issue: Visual Aids Discussion: Classroom portion of classes had little or no visual aids. Classrooms became a lecture and were not affective. Recommendation: Review lesson plans and have MS3’s teach the class to MS4’s prior to lab. Utilize all resources available to us.

  21. LAB300Ambush Mission: Duke BN conducts Squad Ambush Lane on 29NOV12 at AO Hillendale Park in order to build the MS3’s confidence in running squad ambush lanes. Concept of Operation Phase 1: Planning This phase will begin with the recon of AO Hillendale Park. Cadet OICs will recon the AO and create an OPORD for the Squad Ambush lane. TACs assigned roles and go over expectations for lane. This phase ends with supply draw. Phase 2: Issue the Order Time, Location, and Uniform briefed at CO meetings on 26NOV12. CONOP emailed to MS3’s Phase 3: Movement This phase will consist of the movement to AO Hillendale Park. MS3’s will be briefed on the route to the AO from Memorial Hall Phase 4: Lab MS3’s issued additional gear and conduct inspection and accountability prior to FF. FF will be conducted at the AA.
