Where is it located? • Gates of the Arctic National Park can be found in Alaska around the Brooks Range. The closest major city is Fairbanks, AK.
How big is the park? • Gates of the Arctic is 8,500,000 acres in size. Two National Parks that are of a similar size are Wrangell-St. Elias and Denali which both located in Alaska.
What is there to do at Gates of the Arctic? • You can camp, hike, and watch the wildlife at the National Park.
What historical events took place there? • A well known event in American history is the Gold Rush. Prospectors created towns as they went across Alaska. A few of the prospectors went down the Koyukuk river.
What climate does your national park have? • At the beginning and end of the year the temperature goes into the negative numbers. Weather is a big factor in the ecosystem of the park. I would recommend the summer time myself because that is when you can see the park in its full glory.
What types of wildlife can be found there? • You can find beaver, muskox, wood frogs, and the common loon in the summer time. Other then that I don’t think there is much wildlife in the winter except for fox and maybe caribou.
