Program Objectives • To share information regarding new leadership initiatives at Ohio Dominican University. • To identify critical factors to address when developing a leadership program. • To share ideas and best practices for leadership programming.
A little about ODU • Private, Catholic - the only Catholic University in Columbus • Approximately 1,400 undergraduate students • 800 students live on campus; 400 beds added in F04 • Large commuter population • Large adult student population

Goals & Learning Outcomes of PLA • Students will gain a sense of self and understanding of where they are in their own leadership development. • Students will gain an understanding of the definition of leadership and related concepts.
Goals & Learning Outcomes of PLA • Students will gain a foundation of leadership skills to build upon their journey as a life-long learner. • Students will gain a working knowledge of University and community resources and will expand their network of peers and professionals.
Goals & Learning Outcomes of PLA • Students will gain experience in working with others to understand group dynamics and interpersonal relationships. • Students will gain an understanding of good citizenship and leadership beyond their experiences at ODU.
Learning Outcomes • Through involvement in leadership development initiatives and co-curricular opportunities, students will gain experiences in the areas outlined in the Ohio Dominican University Learning Outcomes: • Socratic Self Examination • Critical Communication • Social Responsibility • Narrative/Aesthetic Imagination • Quantitative/Scientific Reasoning • Moral/Ethical Imagination • Understanding the Catholic Dominican Tradition
Elements of PLA • Certified Peer Educator Training • Leadership Workshop Series (featuring a variety of presenters) • Student Organization Presidents’ Retreat and Officer Orientation • Field Trips
