Rationalizing Denominators • Replacing the denominator with a rational number (getting the radical out of the denominator) • Multiply the num. & denom. by a # that will give a perfect square (or perfect cube or perfect root that you are taking) under the radical in the denom.
Conjugate binomials: • The conjugate of a + b is a – b and the conjugate of a – b is a + b.
