ARISTOTELE PROJECT ARISTOTELE will enhance learning and training of the employees within their organisations, defining and developing models, methodologies, technologies, and tools to support the emergence of competences and creativity, by self-organizing acquisition, processing, and sharing of new information and knowledge with peers. To achieve this ARISTOTELE will design and develop a prototype platform presenting possibilities to support: • i) creation and execution of personalised learning activities supporting a hybrid (adaptive and non-adaptive) strategy • ii) innovation building and management processes • iii) collaborative knowledge exploitation and acquisition during the daily employees activities
UNDERSTANDING OF ARISTOTELE ARISTOTELE deals with these challenges by looking into: processesorganizational learningcommunityservices key performance indicators creativityof knowledge workers agility of organizationscontentknowledge management conceptual modelssolid knowledge rocks personalized learning human resource managementcompetencies innovationsemanticscollaborative learningontologiescollective intelligence knowledge work didactic models time to proficiency social collaborationadaptive systems
OBJECTIVES OF ARISTOTELE Today’s organizations are confronted with a number of challenges: • capture, develop and reuse knowledge, competencies, skills • support creativity and innovation • staff projects based on competence management • support composition of training • manage teams • exploit possibilities of social (innovation) networks develop models and methodologies to provide basis for an integrated IT solution

TRIP INTO THE FUTURE How will your life look like in 2025? Please brainstorm 5 min. with your neighbour about your way of life in 2025.
GUIDING QUESTIONS How will… • Collaboration in an international distributed project • formal training • informal learning • knowledge management and knowledge sharing • human resources • innovation …look like in 2025?
YOUR TASKS • build teams of 5 • each team has to develop a „Future Case“ • you are in year 2025 • chose one of the following topics: • a typical collaboration scenario in an international distributed project • a formal training scenario • an informal learning scenario • a knowledge management and knowledge sharing scenario • a human resource management scenario • a scenario which describes how innovation can be supported with the future learning/working/collaborating environment
YOUR FUTURE CAREER • Imagine, you suddenly are waking up in 2025. • You are still in Essen. • You’re working in the global company Worldmanagement, a big energy provider (originating from RWE in the year 2019). • You are the head of a team of 3 persons.
EXAMPLE COLLABORATION SCENARIO • Your department “international projects” is in charge of coordinating projects with other organisations from all over the world. • Your boss comes to you and tells you that the company wants to develop a new ERP Software which is especially focusing on knowledge management (within company and SCM), providing learning activities and courses to employees, innovative human resource management and new collaboration tools. Since you are in charge of international collaboration, you are the best person to help here. Now – this is your chance! Your boss wants you to develop a clear scenario how collaboration functions in your projects in the future.
EXAMPLE FORMAL TRAINING SCENARIO • Your training department is in charge of the training of the whole organisation which is consisting of teams in Essen, but also has branch offices all over the world • Your boss comes to you and tells you that the company wants to develop a new ERP Software which is especially focusing on training provision, providing learning activities and courses to employees. Since you are in charge of training management, you are the best person to help here. Now – this is your chance! Your boss wants you to develop a clear and impressive scenario how training and training management functions in the future. Please invent it!
EXAMPLE INFORMAL LEARNING SCENARIO • Your “learning” department is in charge of learning within the company which is consisting of teams in Essen, but also has branch offices all over the world. • Your boss comes to you and tells you that new studies have shown that 80% of learning activities takes places in so called informal (and mostly unplanned) learning activities. The company now wants to develop a new ERP Software which is especially focusing on such informal learning – because this is the only way to stay competitive. Since you are in charge of learning management, you are the best person to help here. Now – this is your chance! Your boss wants you to develop a clear and impressive scenario how informal learning can be stimulated in the future. Please invent it!

Please read through all the materials. • Step 3: Please create a WIKIpage for your group in the project wiki. http://futurework.wikispaces.com/. • Step 4: Please brainstorm in your group: How does the scenario look like in 2025? Document the brainstorming on your WIKIpage • Step 5: Please search your topic on the internet and find innovative ideas. Document your search in your WIKIpage.
STEP-BY-STEP DESCRIPTION • Step 6: Now develop your scenario: • How will your topic be dealt with in 2025? • How does your scenario look like? • Describe in detail typical days (Peter comes to work and turns on his computer. He finds an email from Daniela asking him to share results of yesterday’s videoconference with Tokyo) • The scenario description should be original, detailed, in good English and between 1 and 2 DIN A4 pages long. • Please draw a flow chart which shows the actions which are performed in your scenario • Upload your scenario to the WIKIpage • Step 7: Please develop a PowerPoint presentation for your scenario with max. 4-5 slides. Upload your scenario to the WIKIpage.
TIMELINE • 30.11.: Presentation of the Aristotele Project; explain tasks and build work-groups of about 4-5 students (full lecture time) • 7.12.: Work phase (on this date there is no lecture, instead you will work on the tasks) • 8.12.: Upload the brainstorming and 5 commented links to the Wiki • 14.11.: Presentation of the scenario and feedback; judging panel: Ulf Ehlers, Thomas Richter, Prof. Adelsberger*, Cornelia Helmstedt • 21.12.: Latest, final submission of all requested documents
