This scholarship is given by the Ward family in memory of Rev. Dr. Donald Ward, the eighth president of Yankton College, and whose grandfather, Joseph Ward, is credited with founding public education in the state of South Dakota, in recognition of a student’s academic ability and demonstrated leadership in extracurricular and community activities.

Avera Sacred Heart Medical Staff Scholarships The Avera Sacred Heart Medical Staff has been providing quality healthcare services to the residents of Yankton and surrounding areas for over 100 years. We strive to meet the unique and increasing healthcare needs of the area, because our commitment is to you and your family.
Through our strong desire to promote higher education and to provide resources for our youth to seek higher education, the Avera Sacred Heart Medical Staff is awarding a scholarship to 2 Yankton High School seniors who are pursuing a major in the medical field.
27. Yankton Lions Club Scholarship The Yankton Lions are proud to be able to provide a scholarship to a deserving Yankton area student again this year. This scholarship is intended to provide educational assistance to those students who have been active in school and community activities and plan to continue their education in an area of study consistent with Lions projects. We seek to provide assistance to those who are committed to service to others in their community and demonstrate this desire. The Yankton Lions scholarships can be used for college or vocational school programs.

SD JCI Senate FoundationScholarship A JCI Senatorship is the highest honor which can be bestowed upon a current or past Junior Chamber (Jaycee) member by Junior Chamber International for outstanding service to the organization. The USJCI Senate is recognized by the United States State Department as official Goodwill Ambassadors around the world.
Each State Senate organizations have their own selection processes to choose deserving graduating high school seniors to submit for National competition.
Each year, the USJCI Senate Foundation grants $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools.

32. Sacred Heart School Spirit of Service Scholarship Each year this award and scholarship is given to 2 high school seniors who graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School’s 8th grade.

34. Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship Program The Ronald McDonald House Charities Global Organization sponsors the RMHC National Scholarship program in partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland, Inc. The Sioux City RMHC chapter has participated in this program since 2003 and has awarded over $100,000 to high school graduates in the Siouxland area. Applications are distributed to over 90 high schools in the Siouxland area and are evaluated based on strong academic achievement, community service, financial need and personal recommendations and statements.
35. Yankton School District Community Service Scholarship This scholarship recognizes a graduating senior from Yankton High School who has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service and the spirit of volunteerism.
36. Dakota STEP Recognition The Dakota Step testing is a required state test for all YHS Juniors. Rarely do students score a perfect score on any portion of the test. However, Yankton High School has two seniors who did not miss a single question last spring when they took the Dakota Step
