Rubbish! Profound! Greece is one of the world’s oldest, and most historically rich civilizations. Greece developed the first democracy, a type of government which was later adopted by many other countries, including the U.S. Greece has proven to be a powerful country, which has withstood a myriad of obstacles. • Greece is very old. II. Greece started the first government. III.Greece is super powerful.
Narrowing in on your Topic Sentences • Think about what you already know about your subject. What three “main points” do you want to cover in your paper? • Browse through your note cards... • What familiar “main points” do you see? • Write your three topic sentences. • Label them I, II, and III
Supporting Facts • Supporting Facts are points A, B, and C. • These facts are found in your research – they can sometimes be a direct quote. • If you quote an author, be sure to cite the source! ex. (Smith 2) • A, B, and C should support your Topic Sentence. • If you can’t think of enough supporting facts, you may have to change your topic sentence!
Details • Details is are the fun part of your paper! • Show what you know/what you’ve learned. • Go in to detail – use facts, examples, etc. • Details explain the supporting facts of your topic sentence. • This is the time to mention key moments in history, interesting stories, etc. Get creative!
Outline Due Date! • Tuesday- March 19 • Do not have to be typed, but may be helpful • Use the example provided for assistance • Outlines are worth 20 points!
