How is this important to cultural diffusion? Journal Question Gallery Walk: Move around the room and learn from the “exhibits” Please record what each group has gathered for information about Egypt, India, China, Sumerians. Why are references in mythologies still valid in today's society? HOMEWORK: Find one, tell where they got it and overall why is it still valid to use mythological references?
Captain obvious yes: All civilizations are located near a major river that flooded annually • All developed forms of irrigation • Similar climates warm and dry with seasonal flooding • Each had a king who demanded loyalty from the subjects and controlled the food supply • Dynasty– a series of rulers descending from a single family line. • Saw the emergence or creation of social classes or a caste system • All had systems of writing • Belief in many gods –polytheism
All made artistic representations of what their life was like and their Gods • All were innovators and came up with new things that are still relevant to today • Adapted their surrounding environment to survive • Experienced conflict, internal or externally • Eventually collapsed, faded away, or were conquered • They all traded with other people in some respect to get what they need to survive
