Senior Design Project A Simple Thermostat
Preliminary Specs Hardware: DC Power Input: Expect 12 to 15 VDC Either TI MSP430 or C2000 controller Three outputs for motors A.) 12 VDC Three speed with separate Hi, Med, Low inputs. B.) 12 VDC On/OFF 12VDC motor. C.) Linear 0-3.3V “ramp” speed command (implies D/A conversion-might use PWM to 0-3.3 as feasible). (Temperature measured & set Temperature display Alarm for failures) Remote control Power efficiency is critical-No linear regulators for DC to DC conversion. Output to PMSM 0-3.3 Linear based on 0 to 2000 RPM. Differential output. 7. Pick most power effective for other motors, I.E. relays, solid state relay, FET etc…. Anything else we dream up.
Preliminary Specs Software: TI Code Composer Version 5.1 Use C and available (from TI) macros. Real Time Clocking Algorithm must be easily understood, well commented/documented and motor on-off times and speed output easily modifiable. In other words we have to be able to easily modify when the motors kick on off and what speed command to send to the PMSM and, of course, when. Anything else we can think of
Deliverables: Software source code. Eagle (preferred) or other PCB layout program files, IE schematic, layout. Documentation, documentation and more documentation. Dr. Richie will ensure this. And the hardware.
