JavaOne open source identity and access management expert panel to include Gluu CEO, Mike Schwartz Gluu announced today that its CEO and founder Mike Schwartz will participate in an expert panel on trends in open source identity and access management at Oracle’s JavaOne conference. The session will provide an opportunity for dialogue between those that need open source IAM products, and those that create them. “There is a growing need in the market today to provide open source identity and access management (IAM) solutions that are both comprehensive and easy to use,” said Schwartz. “I’m excited to participate in this panel and hope to provide attendees with clear guidance on the best products and standards to align with.” JavaOne is an annual conference inaugurated in 1996 by Sun Microsystems to discuss Java technologies, primarily among Java developers. Technical sessions are held during the day, and in the evenings, Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions allow people to focus on a particular aspect of Java technology like identity and access management.
Shawn McKinney, Principal at Joshua Tree Software and panel organizer added, “The track record for open source solution providers in the IAM space has been less than stellar. Our goal is to provide attendees with information for better utilizing the products that are available today and to field suggestions and answer any questions they may have.” “At Gluu, we strongly believe that open source software is simply the best software available, especially for software that implements widely used Internet standards” continued Schwartz. “This is especially true with regard to security software: the more adoption, the more eyes on the code, and the easier it is to find resources to help your domain operate cost effectively.” JavaOne Session Details: Title: Open Source Identity and Access Management Expert Panel, Part 2 Venue / Room: Hilton – Golden Gate 6/7/8 Date and Time: 9/23/13, 17:30 – 18:15 PDT Session URL: http://www.gluu.co/javaone-iam About Gluu:
Gluu helps organizations design, build, and operate authentication and authorization (“AA”) systems to secure web and mobile applications using open source software. Gluu leverages open standards such as OAuth 2.0, SAML, and RADIUS to enable organizational strong authentication, single sign-on (SSO), and web access management (WAM). The “OX” open source project, maintained by Gluu, implements two profiles of Oauth2: OpenID Connect for authentication and UMA for authorization. The Gluu Server subscription is a managed service that enables organizations to provide standards based access management for their Internet domain, on the IAAS platform of their choice.
