  1. “The School of Whedon”: A Power Point Audience Participation Game

  2. Part of Joss Whedon’s genius is his ability to bring out the best in those he works with. I would posit this as a necessity for a great television artist. It struck me only recently one of the great themes of the show—the importance of community, trust, friendship—is found not only in the episodes but in their creation. . . . Joss Whedon in effect created a school of writers (cf. a school of painters) who grew more and more sharply skillful with Whedon’s support. . . . Rhonda V. Wilcox, Why Buffy Matters (6) The School of Whedon

  3. The “school of Whedon” of which preeminent Whedonverses scholar Rhonda Wilcox speaks could be said to include every significant collaborator—the writers, directors, cast and crew, illustrators—of his television series (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse) his web series Dr. Horrible, his movies (Serenity, The Cabin in the Woods, The Avengers), his comic books (Fray, The Amazing X-Men, The Runaways, Buffy Season Eight), his productions for Bellwether (Much Ado About Nothing, The Wastelanders, In Your Eyes). 6. “The School of Whedon”: A Power Point Audience Participation Game • You are about to take a quiz. Twenty four (24) members of the School of Whedon will introduce themselves to you. Nine slides will announce, one at a time, in descending order of difficulty, each SoWer’s accomplishments, inside and outside the Whedonverses. • Please do not shout out answers as you realize the true identity of each individual. • Rather, keep score (honor system) with the score card available here. The School of Whedon

  7. “The School of Whedon”: A Power Point Audience Participation Game • Put an “X” in the box next to the slide that led you to identify correctly. Getting the right answer on the first slide will earn 10 points, on the second slide, 9, etc. • With the 9th slide, the reader will ask the audience to shout out the correct answer before moving on to the last slide. • The SoWer’s identity is, in each case, revealed on the final (10th) slide. If you do not figure out the identity of the mystery individual before the reveal, you may still give yourself a point “just for playing.” w • Let’s do a test drive. This one does not count.
