All Wales Unit Purpose • Support Local Authority Social Services in policy development, implementation and review. • Help facilitate effective information sharing between Local Authorities in relation to Social Services and allied functions. • Support Local Authorities in cross border collaboration and joint working with their partner agencies in the statutory, private and voluntary sectors
All Wales Unit Activities • Providing assistance to existing All Wales Groups such as ADSS, Heads of Children’s Services and Heads of Adult Services. • Undertaking specific time limited Projects. • Developing an interactive web site – to be launched Autumn 2002. collecting and disseminating information. • Work in partnership with other initiatives, agencies and projects such as the Local Government Data Unit, Syniad, SCIE and the Performance Management Project

All Wales Unit Website • Multiple editorial access to a number of contributors over a web-based platform • Rapid & simple updating of website content without the need to use complex web authoring software • Creation of a unique tool/model for information exchange between Authorities social services departments. • Public facing section of the site & secure area for members, accessible via username & passwords • Content personalisation for site users • Bobby & W3C approved public pages
Summary • The site will have ‘public pages’ and secure areas • forum for problem solving • Authority ‘champions’ who can contribute best practice work • separate editor • Some practice may be developmental so secure ‘members only’ area to share with colleagues

What is content management? • Content management is the ability to enable appropriate personnel to effortlessly manage and deliver information across multiple channels. • Content management relieves the bottleneck of information from IT departments. • Content Management Systems (CMS) are applications which provide user-friendly interfaces allowing non-technical people to manage and deploy content.

What is CONTROLSITE? • CONTROLSITE is Goss Interactive’s own content management application • Developed by UK based team over the past three years • Product development driven by client requirements • CONTROLSITE encompasses content management, personalisation and ecommerce • CONTROLSITE implemented by Goss Interactive or through UK based implementation partners
How does our CMS work? • Content (data and media) is entered into a central store through use of a CMS. • Content can then be easily manipulated and ordered via user-friendly interfaces. • Content is displayed in customisable forms (templates) for different delivery mechanisms. • Delivery mechanisms include websites, intranets, extranets, interactive television, PDA’s WAP & XML etc
