In-Class Discussion What is popular culture? George names many people, for example, Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, “Sugar” Ray Robinson, Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays, Muhammad Ali, Julius Erving. Why is only Jordan taken as an icon?

In-Class Discussion How does Jordan “epitomize Black masculinity”? Contrast this statement with George’s comment about the “you-know-what-I’m-sayin’” types.
In-Class Discussion 4. George’s describes the moment in the Bulls locker room when Jordan “sought a moment of solitude” that cameras prevented. Is that “a dignity as heroic” to you?
