Objectivos: To explore & evaluate different memorizing techniques. To prepare for our written controlled assessment. All of you must create and evaluate at least one way of committing texts to memory. Most of you should create, compare and evaluate a couple of ways of revising effectively and judge which one is best and why. Some of you could create, compare and evaluate all Of the revision strategies and come to a conclusion of Which way you will revise and justify this
I can't learn it... It’s Spanish... and it’s too hard!!! Every few weeks you learn the words to your favourite song!! You can recite a presentation of similar length in English – as long as you understand what you have written, you will in Spanish too! It’s a thought process…a story! Yes you can...

Visual Learners • Learn through seeing • Need to be able to see body language and facial expressions • Tend to sit at the front of classroom • Avoid visual obstruction • Think in images • Like diagrams, illustrated tasks, video/DVD and handouts • Like to take detailed notes If this is you…Make pictures / diagram to help you remember the sequence of key answers/ presentation. Put sticky notes with parts of your coursework around your room/mirror/ next to the TV/ back of the toilet door.
Auditory Learners • Learn through listening • Like verbal instructions and discussions • Like to listen to others • Like the various tones, pitch and speed in speech • Not over keen on written information • Like to read text aloud • Like to use play back settings on digital media players If this is you… Perhaps tape your presentation on MP3 and listen to it over & over again…or… learn to sing your presentation to your favourite song. Rhythm can make a HUGE difference!
Kinesthetic Learners • Learn through moving • Like taking part and touching • Like to be active • Find it a challenge to sit for long periods • Easily distracted If this is you… Type out your presentation/ key phrases – cut them up into sentences and practise putting them back together – then when writing them out from memory do it in short fifteen minute bursts.

Although you may have a preferred learning technique... it is a good idea to use a variety of techniques to stop the brain switching off!
Lo Importante • Busca un lugar tranquilo para aprender. • Coge una parte manejable (3 o 4 frases) • Usa el estilo de aprendizaje que prefieres • Repasa y practica durante unos quince a • veinticinco minutos, no más. • Hay que repasar frecuentemente.
Important • Find somewhere quiet to learn. • Take a manageable chunk (3-4 sentences) • Use your preferred learning style to help you • learn. • Only move on to the next manageable chunk • once you are happy that it has been learnt. • Learning should occur in short bursts 15-25 • mins. at a time. • The bursts of learning should be frequent.
What stops you from learning? • Not believing you can do this. • Background noise – try not to have music on whilst learning unless it does not have any words. • Trying to learn too much in one go! Our brains can only manage a bit at a time. • Moving on to the next bit before you have learned the last bit properly. • Not checking your learning on a regular basis.
Putting it to the test • Write down your preferred learning style. • Get into groups of the same learning style. • Follow the instructions and aim to learn your first 5 sentences of the oral presentation in 10 minutes.
Plenary controlled conditions It is essential to make links with key words in order to prompt you for the rest of the sentence. Match up the key hotel words with the descriptions: España a. C’était de luxe avec vue sur la mer Un restaurant b. on est arrivée à l’aeroport en retard La plage c. J’ai essayé tous les attractions La chambre d. Il y a le Tour Eiffel et Mont Martre à voir L’avion e. J’ai fait toutes sortes d’activités nautiques Un parc d’attraction f. J’ai acheté un petit dessin du port pour mon grand père. Le temps g. il y avait une petite cuisine et un salon confortable. Un gîte h. J’ai mangé des cuisses de grenouilles La planche à voile i. Il faisait très chaud tous les jours. Les souvenirs j. Je me suis bronzé(e)
