Meter • The entire stick is 1 meter.
Liter • The bottle is 1 liter. • About equal to 1 US quart.
Gram • The gold square is 1 gram. • About equal to the mass of a large paper clip.
Celsius & Kelvin • Take Celsius and add 273 to get Kelvin. • The Kelvin scale measures absolute zero.
Bigger than the standard • Kilo = 1,000 • If you had 1,000 of the gold squares you would have a kilogram of gold.
Bigger than the standard • Hecto = 100 • If you had 100 of the gold squares you would have a hectogram of gold.
Bigger than the standard • Deka = 10 • If you had 10 of the gold squares you would have a dekagram of gold.
Smaller than the standard Milli = 1/1000 or .001 • Contains 1000 millimeter markings (smallest lines)on the stick.
Smaller than the standard Centi = 1/100 or .01 • Contains 100 centimeter markings. • Numbered markings 1to the end of stick (100)
Smaller than the standard Deci = 1/10 or .1 • Contains 10 decimeter markings. • Every 10th centimeter is denoted as a decimeter by it's bigger font.
