  2. Key Point #1The main function of the circulatory system is to pump blood and transport needed materials around the body.

  3. Key Point #2The main organ of the circulatory system is the heart. It pumps the blood so it can circulate to all of our body cells to deliver oxygen and remove carbon dioxide.

  4. Key Point #3 When you do more physical activity, your heart pumps faster to deliver more oxygen and nutrients to the cells to create energy.

  5. Key Point #4The circulatory system is also made up of blood vessels (tubes) called arteries, veins and capillaries.

  6. Which direction does blood in arteries travel? Which direction does blood in veins travel? What are the smallest blood vessels?

  7. THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

  8. Key Point #1 • The immune system’s function is to produce antibodies to help fight disease-causing organisms.

  9. Key Point #2 • White blood cells, found in the blood, are the cells that fight the disease causing organisms.

  10. These Y shaped things are antibodies. White blood cells make antibodies. KP #3: The immune system attacks and kills pathogens, which are microscopic invaders.
