What is DIP • Is composed of a finite number of elements each of which has a particular location and value (pixels, pels, picture elements).
Low Level operations: input & output are images, such as contrast enhancement, noise removal, and histogram equalization. Mid Level operations: inputs are images, outputs are attributes, such as corners, edges, object description and recognition. High Level operations: inputs are images, output is understanding (making sense), such as detection of moving objects. What is DIP cont.
Electromagnetic Spectrum Fields that use DIP • There is no area of technical endeavor that is not impacted in some way by DIP. • Not possible to cover all of fields that use DIP, to solve this we are looking to the source of these images.
