  2. Samsetning • Blood-brain barrier (BBB) er nauðsynlegur fyrir eðlilega virkni miðtaugakerfis • BBB: • Endothel frumur með þétt-tengi (tight junctions) • Astrocytar • Pericytar • BBB er að finna alls staðar í heilanum nema í s.k. circumventriuclar organs (area postrema, neurohypophysis ofl.)

  3. Plexus choroideus • Blóð flæðir um microvilli og heila- og mænuvökvi (HMV) myndast • Hlutverk HMV er að næra og hreinsa niðurbrotsefni • Epithel frumur plexus choroideus hafa þétt-tengi • Flæðir treglega inn en auðveldlega út
