Overview on ELiMS • state-of-the art library automation system that caters to the needs of both library patrons and librarians. • the largest library managing agency in Singapore with more than 8 million library materials. • ELiMS uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to collect data from the library materials.
ELiMS Facts on NLB • NLB’s Electronic Library Management System (EliMS) was piloted at Bukit Batok Community Library on 21 Nov 1998. • The National Library Board takes pride in having the world's first RFID-enabled library system, with over 9 million items tagged with RFID labels.
With the state-of-the-art RFID system, NLB has automated the loan and return of library items and reduced queuing times from 1.5 hours to less than five minutes during peak hours. • New NLB web site with new offical URL (www.nlb.gov.sg) was launched on 28 Apr 2001.
