Confirm a shared wish to cooperate in areas of mutual concern for REDD+ • Formally frame the collaboration between partners regarding the implementation of the REDD+ for the Guiana Shieldprojet • Facilitate collaboration between partners • Define the areas of cooperation • Agree on Institutional Hosting of International Volunteer • Signatories – Three parties agreement among countries technical partners • ONF-Guyane as the project leader • ONF International as the main implementing partner • SSB, IEF and GFC for Suriname, Amapa and Guyana as implementing partners in those respective countries Purpose of the MoU
Transparency • Regional cooperation • Respect of national development policies and national sovereignty • Synergies with other initiatives in the region • Non-exclusive collaboration • Three MoUsto be signed by countries technical partners • with a common basis • but opened to specific national agreements/commitments • Annex the Focal Points and Phd thesis terms of references Guiding principles of the MoU
Areas of cooperation • Shared between the three parties • Technical and strategic information sharing, in the area of REDD+ during project • Participate to the Steering Committee and other working meetings • ONF Guyane / ONFI • Put at the disposition of the project a dedicated team: • a project leader based in Cayenne, • 3 focal points respectively in Suriname, Guyana and Amapa, • a PhD student, • an administrative assistant (in Cayenne) • Contribute through experts’ time to the implementation • Countries forestry services (SBB, GFC, IEF): • Integrate a focal point for his country in his team • Participate to the project activities • Expert time (Half time of a project leader) • Administrative (20% of an administrative assistant time)
Timeline • Drafts are ready and have been sent to signatories. Only few comments received • To be signed as soon as possible (soon arrival of Focal Points in the countries) • Time for additional discussions if needed • Welcoming any comments to discuss about this
