  3. Spiritual Growth The Charter and Bylaws of the Boy Scouts of America maintain that no boy can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing his obligation to God. Scouting is absolutely nonsectarian in its attitude toward that religious training. The Boy Scouts of America does not define what constitutes belief in God or the practice of religion.  Respect for other people is tied to respect for different ideas about God. After all, different families, individuals, and religious traditions have ideas of God that surely differ.

  4. Sportsmanship • Good sportsmanship occurs when everyone treats each other with respect. • Kids learn the basics of sportsmanship from the adults in their lives. • Kids who see adults behaving in a sportsmanlike way gradually come to understand that the real winners in sports are those who know how to persevere and to behave with dignity — whether they win or lose a game.

  5. Family Understanding • Cub Scouts is a fleeting opportunity for you to spend “quality time” and share unique experiences - like hiking in the mountains with Dolly the Llama.

  6. Respectful Relationships • Between scouts • To God • To Country • To Parents • To Adults • To Institutions • To the Uniform • To Nature

  7. Personal Achievement Cub Scouts are encouraged and lead through different badges and ranks. They learn they can do something new themselves, they’ve never done before, and have fun doing it.

  8. Friendly Service Part of being a Cub Scout is providing Friendly Service – to our Chartering Organization, our Community, and our Country. Scouts learn to be good citizens through service.

  9. Fun and Adventure Cub Scout Pack 97 camps approximately 5 times a year, visits local museums, goes to local “fun” places such as Ray’s Splash Planet, and does one BIG trip in the spring – such as camping on the USS Yorktown or Camping with Sharks in Myrtle Beach

  10. Preparation for Boy Scouts Finally, Cub Scouts prepares boys for Boy Scouts. 4th and 5th grade boys are Webelos – a part of Cub Scouts. However, Webelos is more challenging with more responsibility and independence than the rest of Cub Scouts. Our goal is to graduate all Webelos into a Boy Scout Troop – with Cub Scouts highest award, the Arrow of Light. These are the 2008 Webelos – all of whom joined Boy Scouts and earned the Arrow of Light.
