Communication! The Buckskin Binder: The Buckskin Binder will be used everyday. It will have the student’s homework, and anything that will need to be brought home, inside of it. Any classroom announcements, permission slips, and notes sent home, will be found in this Binder. This will be the main means of communication between home and school, along with my email. Lets have a great year! Ms. Wood
Class Routine! Mornings: In the mornings we will start class at 8:00 a.m. The students will be given morning bell work and is to be completed and turned in before the end of the day. After that we will go into core classwork. Afternoons: In the afternoons is the time we will have free time, Special Classes, and is when my planning period takes place. This would be the best time to get ahold of me or when you can expect an email from me.
Attendance, Absent Work, Late Work, and Homework Attendance is very important in my classroom. Many activities I use in class are very constructive and hands on and are hard to recreate. If your child is absent, they have however many days they were absent to make up their work. Late work will result in reduction of the child’s final grade on the assignment. One day late=25% reduction, two days=50% reduction and so on until the assignment point value reaches zero. Homework is to be done at home, not the morning of the day it is due while sitting at a desk in the classroom. In this situation the late work policy will be put into effect.
Behavior Rewards and Consequences! • Students with ninety-five percent attendance or higher, and a good behavior record at the end of the year, will receive a prize! • After a student fills their behavior chart with stickers, they will receive a prize from the prize box. • Bad or unruly behavior will result in the following: • 1st offense: Apple is moved to 5 minutes to beserved at recess. • 2nd offense: Apple is moved to 10 minutes to beserved at recess. • 3rd offense: Apple is moved to 15 minutes to beserved at recess and a note is senthome. • 4th offense: A note is sent home and a visit to the principal’s office is in order.
Parent Involvement! • There will be plenty of opportunities for parents to be involved with the classroom activities. • Parties- Holliday & New Years • Valentines Day • Field Trips- Fantastic Caverns! • Will need several volunteers on this trip. Transportation can be provided.
Questions? If you have any questions please feel free to come up and talk to me at any point in time tonight. Or you can contact me during my planning period through phone and you can always email me! Have a nice night!
