Website Challenge Brief Spring 2008
Introduction • The Nuffield Theatre is based here on the University campus- our website is especially important to us as we don’t get a lot of people walking past or popping in, as would be the case if we were on the High Street… • We are a producing theatre. • We also take visiting companies, including children’s theatre and stand-up comedy. • We arrange workshops and projects based around the work of the theatre, working in the community and in the Theatre. • Here’s our website… www.nuffieldtheatre.co.uk.
What we need in a website… • We’d like to see more detail about the shows we take out on tour, for use by schools and venues that may want to book our shows. • We’d like to see projects, past and present, documented on the website- a lot of things we do don’t appear in the season brochure, as the planning time for them is shorter. • Photos? Video clips? Links to people we work with Eg. Creative Partnerships- www.creative-partnerships.com. • We’d be interested in seeing more interactivity on the website… - Feedback areas for teachers. - Feedback areas for young people and Youth Theatre members (Letters sent out to members of the Youth Theatre could be available to download here?)
Spring Season • The Autumn season (ie. Which shows are on) is still to be announced. • Please use this season’s information for your websites. • Brochures are available today, and show information can also be found on our website.
Style • Our current website colouring was based on a paint chart from Farrow & Ball Paints! (www.farrow-ball.com). • We were looking for a clean, crisp and sophisticated look. • For this season, we’ve tried to focus more on the human face (like this image for Spoonface Steinberg) and brighter, stronger colours. • Think carefully about what image you think the Nuffield is trying to project.
Useful Contacts • Your first points of enquiry at the Nuffield should be Amy Smith (amy.smith@nuffieldtheatre.co.uk) and Sharon Lawless (sharon.lawless@nuffieldtheatre.co.uk). • The Administration number at the Nuffield is 023 8031 5500- we’re on extension 2.
Further support • What are your ideas about how we can offer more support during the Website Challenge? • Would any of the following be useful? • A tour of the theatre? • The chance to interview members of staff? • The chance to look at records (eg.DVDs) of projects run by the Theatre?
