Problems with staff and faculty • They park where they want to. • They park in the handicap spaces. • Tell us how to direct traffic. • Will not where their safety vest for arrival and dismissal. • Prop doors open. • They call 911 when we are on campus. • Don’t know how to operate their own building alarm. • Don’t tell us who’s in our buildings. • Keep criminal activity from us. • Don’t know the building they work in. • Afraid or too lazy to address our culture. • Sleep in our meetings. • Delay in reporting a major, sensitive, or unusual incident.
Problems with staff and Faculty • We have faculty members playing principal. • Teachers allowing scholars into halls without passes. • Teachers giving scholars passes within the first and last 10 minutes of class. • Not exiting the building when a fire alarm sounds. • Lack of faculty support in the café, and at both arrival and dismissal times. • Allowing a scholar back in school after an arrest. • Questioning law enforcement on items we confiscate. • Have been told by faculty that they give us permission to correct a scholar. • Place scholars in the hallways for discipline during instruction. • Interfere in an arrest . • Faculty driving the wrong way on school grounds. (WTF!) • Faculty leaving their vehicle unlocked , with windows down , with items in plain view. • Faculty has had officers investigate scholars who looked suspicious. • Interns not identified by a badge or special pass.

GANG AWARENESS LOCAL EASTSIDE GANGS • Dough Boyz • Pop it off Boyz, they love their guns and crime of choice is robbery • Block Burners, Colors are (Red &Black) • Bad Newz • Hound Bros, Colors are (White & Blue) • The Green Team • Major Mafia Movement • Gangs members wore colored beads prior to wearing the rosaries. • ROSARIES - the idea was taken from Latin Gangs. Some kids don’t even know why they are wearing them other than a fashion statement. • Look for writings and graffiti in our building then report it. • Report any and all known threats of violence even if it sounds crazy. • Gang Training, Aug. 22nd at 2pm
REPORTING AN INCIDENT • OFFICERS CAN HANDLE NON SCHOOL RELATED PERSONAL ISSUES • SCHOOL INCIDENTS THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE A CRIME SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE PRINCIPAL IMMEDIATELY (NO DELAY) • SCHOOL INCIDENTS THAT DOES INVOLVE A CRIME SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE PRINCIPAL AND DIRECTOR OF SECURITY IMMEDIATELY (NO DELAY)

KNOWING YOUR EMERGENCY CODES • LOCK DOWN – STAY WHERE YOU ARE, TEACHERS CONTINUE TO INSTRUCT. NO ONE ENTERS THE BUILDING AND NO ONE LEAVES THE BUILDING. • CODE RED – INTRUDER LOCK DOWN. STAY WHERE YOU ARE, LOCK ALL DOORS, COVER ALL WINDOWS, TURN OFF LIGHTS, MOVE SCHOLARS TO AN UNSEEN LOCATION, SILENCE CELL PHONES, SILENCE SCHOLARS.
KNOWING YOUR EMERGENCY CODES • CODE BLUE – GET OUT OF THE BUILDING AND REPORT TO SAFE LOCATION (I.E. BOMB THREATS, GAS LEAK, WATER MAIN BREAK, CHEMICAL SPILL). NOTE: REMEMBERING CODE BLUE MEANS TO GO OUT TO SEE BLUE SKYS.

EXECUTION OF VARIOUS DRILLS • FIRE DRILL – MOVE QUICKLY OUT OF YOUR ROOMS WITH ALL SCHOLARS. TAKE GO BAG, RED AND GREEN CARD, STUDENT ROSTER, LOCK YOUR DOOR. EXIT THE BUILDING WITH YOUR SCHOLARS SAFELY. • TORNADO DRILL – MOVE ALL SCHOLARS TO INNER HALLS AWAY FROM WINDOWS. STUDENTS SHOULD BE IN THE CROUCH POSITION.

TORNADO PROCEDURE • A. All groups outside the building are to return to the school and go to their designated shelter area. • B. Staff shall proceed with all students to the predetermined tornado shelter areas and remain there with the students until further notice. • C. Disabled students who need assistance are to be assisted by the person designated to assist them for building evacuations. • D. No student shall be allowed out of his/her designated area unless his/her parent comes to the school and requests that the student be released. • E. A student is to be released only to his/her parents.
TORNADO PROCEDURE • F. Proceed to predetermined shelter areas. • 1. Students shall face interior walls. • 2. Students shall crouch on their elbows and knees and face interior walls with their hands over their necks. • 3. Students shall remain quiet to wait for instructions • 4. Staff members shall remain alert for students who show evidence signs of stress or panic, and when necessary, move such students to an area where they will not influence other students and remain with them until the all-clear signal is given. • 5. The principal shall give the all-clear signal and provide further directions. • G. Areas to be avoided. • 1. Spaces that are opposite doorways or openings into rooms that have windows in the exterior walls, and areas with large roof spaces. • 2. Interior locations that contain glass, such as doors, windows, display cases and the like. • 3. Areas where doors swing. When the storm hits, the doors are likely to swing violently. • 4. Corridor intersections (stay at least ten (10) feet away).
EXECUTION OF VARIOUS DRILLS • BOMB THREAT – EVACUATE THE SCHOOL AND THE PREMISES. • TAKE SCHOLARS TO YOUR DESIGNATED EVACUATION AREA. • FACULTY AND STAFF TAKE ANY SCHOLAR WITH YOU EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT IN YOUR CLASS.
