Keys Of the Kingdom Godly Character for a Godless World Influence
To Preserve and Shine Matthew 5:13-16
Matthew 5:13–16 13“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. 14“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. To Preserve and Shine
Mmm...Tasty! • Salt preserves things that will go bad without refrigeration. As a preservative, salt keeps the taste and keeps things from rotting. • Salt makes food taste better. It produces flavor that would not be there without it. Salt is part of making food savory. • Do people savor Christ when they see your actions and hear your words? Do you preserve godliness?
What’s Your Wattage? • The light is a very public element, like a city full of people on the highest point. Everyone sees it and everyone goes there. • Are there people in your life that flock to Christ after seeing how you live? We need to have unbelieving friends to witness to. Is your city empty or full? • The light exposes the darkness actively. When you see sin, do you go along with it or do you stand up to it?
Key of the Kingdom • We must produce a unique flavor to the world through godly living and heavenly wisdom. We must make them crave more of God and His goodness through our actions and words. • We must shine and reveal God through our actions and words to this world, exposing evil wherever we find it and be mirrors of God’s glory shining through us.
