HHFW Heating into Reversed-shear Plasmas Experimental Proposal for NSTX 2005 Run B.P. LeBlanc and usual suspects Princeton, August 18, 2005 1
HHFW Heating into Reversed-shear Plasmas • Goal of experiment • Apply HHFW power to reversed-shear (RS) scenario • Learn about HHFW electron heating under RS condition • Compare HHFW to NBI heating • Study electron thermal transport • Need to • Develop target plasma from discharges created for XP-522, e.g. 116978 2
Develop Target Plasma • Base shot is 116978, DND, L-mode • Some development is needed • Need rtEFIT control • hand shake 0.2 s (Ip flattop start) • Shift plasma out 4 cm in order to achieve 4-cm gap • Use CS flueling • Will need about 3 shots to get there • RF camera to ascertain plasma interaction 3
116878 is DND, but need to(a) bring gap to 4 cm; (b) use CS fueling 5
Need Shot to Last Until 0.5 sMay need to lower Ip and/or increase ne as in 116978 9
