HHFW Heating into Reversed-shear Plasmas • Goal of experiment • Apply HHFW power to reversed-shear (RS) scenario • Learn about HHFW electron heating under RS condition • Compare HHFW to NBI heating • Study electron thermal transport • Build on the scenario developed for XP-522 Results-Forum-05-LeBlanc-2
XP-538: HHFW in RS L-mode PlasmaA brief report • Experiment condition have not been reached yet • Difficulty in reestablishing RS plasma • Locked mode, glow time • Poor HHFW loading because of large gap • PHHFW ≤ 1 MW • Some success • See Te and neutron increase • But small stored energy increase • Need to lower gap • XP calls for >2MW HHFW power Results-Forum-05-LeBlanc-3

Concluding Remarks • Have observed Te and neutron increase associated with HHFW power • Need to develop RS plasma target with smaller outer gap • In order to have better antenna loading and high HHFW power delivered Results-Forum-05-LeBlanc-6
