SIF (Schools Interoperability Framework) • Industry initiative enabling diverse applications to interact & share data easily • Initially started by Microsoft to create “a blueprint for educational software interoperability & data access” • SWIS is in the process of SIF certification

School Interoperability Framework (SIF) Fall 2007 – SWIS will have SIF agent Requires District applications to have SIF agent and State ZIS Download and upload from district databases Anticipated to be used nationwide to link software applications
Requirements for SIF • Software must be SIF compliant(eSchoolPLUS, PowerSchool, eSIS, SASI,…..) • District must have access to Zone Integration Server (ZIS) • Some states have this (South Carolina) • Some are in process (Michigan, South Dakota, Montana…..)
