New Zealand’s Greenhouse Gas Inventory 1990–2010 • Agriculture (chapter 6) • 2010 • The agriculture sector was the largest source of emissions in 2010, contributing 33,748.4 Gg CO2-e (47.1 per cent) of total emissions. New Zealand has a unique emissions profile amongst developed countries. In most other developed countries, agricultural emissions are typically less than 10 per cent of total emissions. • The largest sources of emissions from the agriculture sector in 2010 were enteric fermentation from dairy cattle and sheep, and nitrous oxide emissions from agricultural soils.
