Objective: To appreciate the rhythm and rhyme of a poem Today we are going to read a poem called “At The Top of my Voice.” As we read the poem I want you to listen for rhyming words that you hear.

We will be looking at three different contractions today. The first one is ‘s. The second one is n’t. The third one is ‘ll. See if you can pick out these contractions in the following sentences. He’s going home. He can’t stay. We’ll play on Sunday.
Let’s read these sentences and pick out the contractions I’ll make a cake. You’ll help me. We won’t let it burn. She’s on her way.

Objective: To draw a conclusion based on clues in a story Drawing Conclusions Remember that the writer in a story does not always tell us everything we need to know. We need to use clues from the story to figure out some things. Figuring things out this way is called drawing conclusions.
Today we are going to look back at the story Market Day. Listen carefully as we reread the story so that we can draw our own conclusions at the end of the story. Is the market indoors or outdoors? How do you know? How long have they been at the market? How do you know this? At the end , the author says, “ We’re home at last.” What words help you figure out that the trip was long?
If what I describe is puzzling, then you should scratch your head and looked puzzled. If not do nothing. We line up to go to lunch. It snows in July. It is time to go home. A bug starts talking to you. You just had your pencil and now you can’t find it.
