  2. What is figurative language ? • Figurative language: • One meaning of "figure" is "drawing" or "image" or "picture". Figurative language creates figures (pictures) in the mind of the reader or listener. These pictures help convey the meaning faster and more vividly than words alone. • She ran fast . – literal • She ran like the wind - figurative

How many can you spot ? • When you exaggerate or use extremes to make a point. It emphasis what you are saying. It is a form or irony. • I’m so hungry I could eat a horse!

  7. Your assignment So quick as a bunny, let your book tell you examples of at least 10 000 figures of speech. Remember the group is your lifeline. What that means with out all the figurative language is: Please work efficiently with your group to find 4 or 5 examples of figurative language. Quote the phrase, record the page number and tell what type of figurative language it is. Ex. “ The test was as easy as pie.” page 22 Inside Girl novel . This is an example of simile.
