Making our own rules!!!! In groups I want you to make out a list of the 5 most important rules which should be followed in the woodwork room. Get to work!!
Timber and the environment • Trees have been around for a lot longer than us • They are very important to the survival of the world. • Over use of trees has lead to a deforestation problem • The environment around us is being effected negatively by what we do.
Effects we are having on the environment Cutting down the rainforests is effecting: • Atmospheric temperature. • The ocean currents • Oxygen levels in the atmosphere We have a responsibility to future generations to leave the world in a better condition than we found it…. Do you think we are doing that???
Tropical rainforests: • Are the richest source of life on the earth Hold half of the animal and plant species in the world. Have been called the lungs of the world
Why are the rainforests being cut down? • Demand for paper • Demand for wood • The amount of packaging we use • The governments of tropical countries??
Homework questions: • In your own words explain the green house effect • What ways could we improve/ solve this problem • Why are rules important in the woodwork room Write these questions into your hardback copies, and write down the homework in your diary
